Superlative Grammar Challenge

Complete twenty detailed fill-in-the-blank sentences about human wonders, natural wonders, world records, measurements, and travel opinions.

Each question has three serious answer choices. The distractors are common grammar mistakes, so students must notice form, meaning, articles, plural nouns, and the difference between comparative and superlative language.

Grammar Focus

Use this quick review before answering. The exercise follows the Unit 3 grammar: short adjective superlatives, long adjective superlatives, irregular forms, measurement language, and the expression one of the most.

Short adjectives

Use the + adjective + -est for many short adjectives.

Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world.

Long adjectives

Use the most + adjective. Do not add -est.

Caño Cristales is one of the most colorful rivers in Colombia.

Special forms

Use irregular forms and plural nouns after one of the most.

Cartagena is one of the best places to visit.
